Polling Roundup (6/6)

First off, the daily poll trackers:

Rasmussen Reports:  Obama, 48% (+1) to McCain 43% (-2)

Gallup Daily Tracker:  Obama, 46% (+1) to McCain 45% (-1)

Cook Political Report:  Obama, 44% (+2) to McCain 43% (-2) (Not a daily tracker, but a new General Poll)

Three new US Presidential Polls are out.  cnydonkey will be including those in his Battleground Assessment (Don’t really bother linking there yet, he is getting there!) he is still developing.

A Rasmussen West Virginia poll is out and has a ton of undecideds.  John McBush McCain leads Barack Obama 45% to 37%.  First thing, I was a bit surprised it was this close.  I really did not expect the initial WV poll to have Obama within 8 points, especially after his dismal primary showing.   That is also with 18% undecided.  An interesting finding:

While President Bush won 56% of the West Virginia vote in Election 2004, just 27% of the state’s voters now believe he is doing a good or an excellent job. Most—58%–say the President is doing a poor job.

Another Rasmussen Report proves what we have been saying, Missouri will be one of the biggest Battleground sof the fall.  Barack Obama leads John McBush McCain 43% to 42%.  Tight, tight, tight!  The good news for Obama — it is a 6% improvement since the last Rasmussen Missouri survey in late March.

The new poll shows the number of voters who say they will cross party lines has already started to decline. Just 13% of Missouri Democrats currently say they will vote for McCain, down from 21% a month ago. Obama attracts only 8% of GOP voters, down from 14%.

You know, this whole thing about some Democrats in large number snot voting for Obama is over-stated and over-rated.  The numbers are already starting to drop in states like Missouri and Pennsylvania and will continue to do so. This poll proves that.  And, the biggie here is, the Primary just ended.  Fact is, time heals all wound sand as Democrats and Independent get to know McBush McCain that will be enough to fill the Obama tent.

Finally, Research 2000 has a new state poll out on Kansas.  The poll was done for Daily Kos, so thanks Kos! This poll is quite interesting to me.  McBush McCain leads Obama 51-40.  Three things strike me.   First, it is an 11 point lead.   That to me is a bit surprising, I though McBush McCain would be way further ahead in a hardcore GOP state like Kansas.  Second, Obama trails McBush McCain only 46-44 among women.  I thought Obama was suppose to have a woman problem?  Finally, even in a hardcore GOP state like Kansas, Bush disapproval rating is at 60%
